DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CURSOR IS ????
So you are typing merrily along and suddenly your cursor seems to disappear or a box suddenly appears and just does not seem to want to leave you alone. What do you do? First thing you want to do is stop typing and let go of the mouse to look and see what you have on the screen. Continuing to click or type may bring you to never- land and even lock up your computer if it isn’t confused already. Next, you should carefully move the mouse and place the cursor in a clear non character spot where there are no words or images or links. If you click on your left button with your pointer finger, ( if you are right handed) the box that appeared should go away. Usually what brings this box up is that you inadvertently clicked on the right button when moving your mouse.
What is important to understand is that the box and its contents will differ in appearance and function, depending where on the page your cursor was at the moment you hit that right button. Usually it will present you with many options or choices to choose from which will vary again depending on where on the page you have the cursor. A quick example would be: if you move your cursor to a blank part of this page where there is no typing and click with the right button, you may get a basic drop down list for copying, pasting, printing, formatting etc. Whereas if you move the cursor up to the tool bar at the top of the web page and right click on any item, you will get the particular options available to you in regard to that button or function. Should you choose to select any item or action in the drop down list, use the left button to make your selection. It is important to understand that whenever you move the cursor around, its function may change. Also, on most pages don’t forget you have an undo button on your toolbar which looks like an arrow pointing backwards and down with a tail. Clicking on that button once will take you back one step from what you may have just typed or clicked on.
Whatever you do.. clicking may make you curse but that cursor is your friend of course.
