‘Tis the season
It always seems difficult to know what is the best product to buy. So many choices, but which one is actually good. Reviews and ratings will help make life easier. Consumer Reports is a great resource. CADL has both print and electronic subscriptions. Under the Research Tools menu link is the database, General OneFile. December 2008 is the most current issue. The best part, though, is that you can search the magazine. Just type a product like digital cameras or computers. The results list will display the newest articles first.

From our business librarian…
I see all sorts of entrepreneurs at the library and one of the main struggles they face is what tools to use in researching their market/business start-up idea. CADL has access to a wide variety of resources to help entrepreneurs. One of my favorites is our collection of business e-books. We have over 300 business plan samples available electronically. Why re-invent the wheel when you can view a business plan sample for a business similar to yours? Here’s how you access them - visit www.cadl.org/business and click on “Check Out Our New e-Books!” at the top of the page. You’ll also find e-books that discuss how to conduct market research and competitive intelligence. If you have any research questions, please contact me a business@cadl.org. Good Luck!

Some developments
Every 2 months there should be a guest blogger entry. November’s guest is our American Library Association Award winning Business Librarian.
Each week you should see the Web Site of the Week post (WSOTW). If you have a better acronym, let me know. The one I came up with is lame.
This week’s website of the week is www.zod2008.com. This site is fitting considering that it is election day. Check it out. For those who have no idea about zod, think back to the movie Superman II and the 3 evil characters. It is not really useful, but it is cool. One of the best things about the Internet is that people take time and care to build wonderful sites like that. Creativity still exists out there. For more fun… http://www.zod2008.com/1040zod.pdf.
